Have you ever done something that
seemed fun at the time but turned into something bad? I have. I got a disk that
allowed me to get passwords from other people. Now that I am caught, I feel
horrible about it. Here are some important things I learned. First, you
shouldn't use a disk if you don't know where it came from and you don't know
exactly what it will do. Second, don't try to become a hacker just because it
seems fun, it's not. Third, If you have even an inkling that you are doing
something wrong, stop. Don't go any further.
It started out as something fun. It didn't turn out that way though. The
disk I used not only had stuff for getting into the computers, it also had a
virus on it. This is the reason that you should never use an unknown program, it
might cause more harm than good. I remember thinking,"Oh, wow, now I'm a
hacker. What fun." A hacker is someone who digs around in the computer to
find out and learn new things. I was actually causing more damage rather than
learning more things. When I first got the disk, I wasn't sure I was doing the
right thing. It should have stopped right there, when I thought I might be on
the other side of the line. Luckily, I got caught before my actions caused a lot
of damage.
By now you have probably figured out the moral to this story. Don't mess with anything that could have repercussions. This doesn't only relate to computer stuff. It relates to your whole life. Don't do anything that you might have to regret for the rest of your life. Hacking isn't fun, it's dangerous. A lot of people have had to put time in to repair the damage. This could affect me for the rest of my life. It goes on my school record. What you don't see in these paragraphs is all of the worrying by my family and the guilt I still have.
