On January 17, 2007, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Board of Health approved additional vaccine requirements for children in childcare settings, and schools beginning in the 2007-2008 school year.
Kindergarteners entering school in the 2007-2008 School year will be required to have 2 Varicella vaccines, (Chicken Pox) or a history of having the disease documented by a doctor or lab test.
All students entering the 6th and 10th grades in the 2007-2008 school year will be required to have proof of receiving the Tdap vaccine. This is based on the Center for Disease Control recommendations to prevent cases of Pertussis (Whooping Cough).
Consult with your health care provider about your student receiving the vaccines. Immunization Clinics are held regularly, at the Larimer County Health Department, call 498-6700 for schedules and information.
Documentation of your child's entire immunization information should be provided to your school office, to be part of the official school immunization record.
The state of Colorado Immunization Law, allows Medical, Religious, and Personal Exemptions. In the event of an outbreak, exempted persons may be subject to exclusion from school and to quarantine.
