Extreme
poverty hits students the hardest.
They learn to go without lots of things most of us take
for granted... but expecting them to go without
basic hygiene supplies is simply too much to expect!
One of the greatest hopes these children have is
to get an education so that they can escape the
cycle of homelessness when they grow up.
That's why Centennial High School invites you to help
by supporting "CHS Community Matters: Travel
Bags", a program that helps homeless students by providing them
with a travel bag filled with necessary hygiene
items.
If you would like to touch a student's life,
the Volunteer Center is accepting donations. Items
such as:
- washcloth
- travel size shampoo/lotion/conditioner
- toothpaste/toothbrush
- deodorant/soap and razor
If you find you have unused travel
size leftovers (from hotels), we would love to
have them.
Also needed are:
- Fabric (strong) - we will be making the bags

- Fabric (medium) - we will be making small travel size pillows
- Fabric (fleece) - we will be making small fleece blankets
- Zippers - any leftover you may want to discard
- Velcro
- Stuffing/filler for pillows
Donations will be accepted anytime and would be greatly
appreciated. You can drop off donations from 8
a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at Centennial
High School or if you are a District employee you
can pop them in the school mail to Ann at Centennial.
If you have any questions, please contact Ann Chantler
at 970-488-4940.
Your gift today will help provide travel bags loaded with the supplies these children need to stay in school and succeed!
One eWeek option available to students was to work on this project. See photos.
