AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination)

AVID will be offered as an elective class for 8th and 9th graders. One section for 8th and one section for 9th graders is available by invitation only.

AVID is offered nationwide for motivated students who, without help, might not consider a four year university and/or meet the financial and academic criteria for entrance.

AVID provides tutorial sessions during the AVID elective class with tutors from CSU or Front Range Community College. These Tutors work with the students in collaborative groups facilitating question and answer sessions. Students will learn to answer their own questions and learn how to effectively answer other students questions.

AVID represents students who are traditionally underserved in four year institution, whether because of financial, ethic or gender issues. AVID is student centered and works on life skills for students who are willing to make the commitment to academic achievement.
