Finals Exempt Policy

Cache La Poudre Junior High 9th Graders may earn the privilege of being finals exempt at the end of the semester. This policy does not apply to 8th or 7th graders.

In order to qualify for final exempt status ALL the following criteria must be met.

Attendance
A student must have 2 or fewer “excused” full day absences or two or fewer single class absences for the entire semester in order to be excused from a final:
6 class or school tardys in a semester equal 2 absences for the purpose of this policy;
If a student has any unexcused absence they are ineligible for this policy.
Current Grade
A student must have a C or above in class in order to be excused from a final:
If a student has a D or F they are ineligible for this policy.
Late or Missing Work
A student must have “no” late or missing assignments in order to be excused from a final:
Unexcused late work or having missing assignments make the student ineligible for this policy.
Behavior
A student must not have any office behavior referrals from that class. This means the student is considered a student in good standing and has maintained their classroom behavior in such a manner as to support student learning.
Parent or Guardian Permission
A student must have parent/guardian permission to be eligible for this policy.
Parent/guardian permission means that the STUDENT will be excused from class for the period when the final is given.

If all the following conditions are met the student may decide to take the final exam to improve their grade. The final will not count against the student’s grade if the final exam score is below the student’s average.
