History of Cache La Poudre Middle School
Cache La Poudre
has gone through many changes, large and small.
The school started in 1912 and has continued as a school
up to the present day. 1999 was the 50th anniversary
of the junior high. Even though there have been
many changes, we still have the same traditions and
pride.
The school started
in 1912 in someone's home. In 1913 a building
was built next door to where the elementary stands now.
It held kindergarten through 12th grade. The present
day Cache La Poudre Junior High School was built in
1949 and was Cache La Poudre High School, while the
first building held kindergarten through 9th grade.
In 1964 Poudre High School was built and the original
high school became Cache La Poudre Junior High School.
In 1974 the old building was knocked down and the new
Cache La Poudre Elementary was built. Even though
our school is more than fifty years old, it is still
in excellent condition.
Another major change
was the addition to the junior high. The addition
was built in 19 and was done in two parts.
The lunch room was the first addition. It was
added because the junior high students had to go to
the elementary for lunch. The second addition
was the media center and the west classrooms.
Before the addition, the media center was in room one.
The additions were made because of the rapid growth
of Cache La Poudre Junior High School.
