Dear Dunn Students and Families,
Betcha' didn't know that...
- Dunn Media Center has over 19,000 books including books in
other languages such as Spanish and Chinese.
- Every class visits the Media Center at least once a week
to check out books, listen to stories, play skills games, etc.
- Our computer lab has 30 computers, each classroom in the
building has 2-5 networked computers, and we have a mobile lab of wireless
laptops.
- Students use computers, digital cameras, scanners, and other
multimedia technologies to make and present projects.
- Sixth graders write, direct, and televise a news show to
the entire school every morning from the Media Office.
- 4th-6th graders take keyboarding classes in the computer
lab every fall.
- The Media Center is "home" to B.E.A.T. classes
like Research and Multimedia and Computer Art. (B.E.A.T. stands for Basics,
Enrichment and Technology. All 4th-6th graders get to choose 3 B.E.A.T. classes
every year.)
- Lots of classes and individual students use the Media Center
every day to research, read, use a computer, and work on homework.
Donations:As you travel the world or visit
your local bookstore, keep Dunn Media Center in
mind!
In order to meet International Baccalaureate authorization requirements,
Dunn must have a collection of books in the "home" or first languages of our
international students. These books will be housed in the school media center
where they will be available for staff, students and parents to check out. We
would appreciate book donations to help us with this endeavor. All donations
should be appropriate for an elementary school environment.
This is a great site for Internet resources related to books
for children and young adults!
