FCHS Lambkins!! Support the Music Department!!
Fort Collins High School is seeking funds to replace its concert grand piano. In 1924, the new Fort Collins High School was built at 1400 Remington Street in Fort Collins. At that time, a new Baldwin 9' concert grand piano was purchased for the performing arts department. It served faithfully there for 71 years until 1995 when it was moved into the new Fort Collins High School building at 3400 Lambkin Way. Budget constraints did not allow for the purchase of a new grand at that time, so it has been being used at the new building for the past 14 years. Like the building that it had been housed in, this much used, and loved, 85 year old piano is understandably showing many signs of wear and tear and is in desperate need of being replaced so that the Fort Collins High School student body has access to a high quality musical instrument. Because of the cost of a concert grand piano, the Fort Collins High School music department has embarked upon a multi-year fund-raising effort to replace this important mainstay of our school. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to replace our concert grand piano.
One of the ways we are using to accomplish this lofty goal is by selling grocery cards to King Soopers and to Safeway. These cards come in $25, $50 and $100 increments. You buy the card from us and you use it to purchase your groceries. If you buy a $100 card, you get $100 worth of groceries. FCHS gets 3, 4 or 5 % of that (depending upon how large our order is.) You do not have to buy something you really don't want and you would be paying the same amount for your groceries anyway. It really is easy. The order forms are due in to the music office on the first Friday of every month (that is this Friday, October 2nd.) We will be putting an order form in your box this week, but you may also get the order forms from any of the music staff or students or on the FCHS music department website. Fill out the form, and give it to one of the music staff members along with your check for the amount of cards you want to buy, and then we will get you the cards by the following Friday (in this case, October 9th.)
