Pictures provided by Peggy Kohrmann The Cinderella Prom Gown Sale was held at Fort Collins High this spring, helping high school girls throughout the district to find affordable gowns for their special night of prom. Throughout the year, donations of “slightly used” gowns from community closets join others received as clearance inventory from area stores, to create a collection of nearly 300 gowns for shoppers. Each gown is inspected, tagged, and repaired, if needed, by students in the FCHS Fashion Design classes in preparation for the sale. Donations are never rejected, because each piece finds a new life…either on the sale rack, or as a recycling project for a fashion design student.

As you do your closet cleaning this spring and discover prom dresses stored away and needing a new owner, please bring them to the FCHS main office. You will be given a donation form for your tax purposes, and can be assured that you have contributed to new lessons in recycling and consumerism for our high school students.

This project is sponsored by the FCHS Family & Consumer Sciences Department. If you have questions or want more information, contact Peggy Kohrmann at 488-8122 or pkohr@psdschools.org.
