"This I Believe" Personal Essay Speeches

Podcasts Description

For this project, all students recorded a rough draft of their speech in a podcast. These were listened to by upper-classmen in AP Language or Forensics classes. Their constructive criticism was submitted anonymously through a peer review form. The authors used these comments to revise their speech and create a final draft.

Podcasting is the most modern version of sharing your ideas through speech. Your thoughts are made available all around the world, and are therefore easily heard by others.

As the need for collaboration in education becomes more evident, technology provides some interesting options to explore. External peer reviews, for example, are one of the best ways for students to gather unbiased information for working on powerful revisions and to further develop their ideas.

The benefits for the peer collaborators are vast as well. The positive power of generosity and stewardship can not be denied, and the chance for reflection on what makes papers and speaking better does impact future writing.

The podcast above reveals the easy process of making podcasts and displaying them on any webpage or blog using flash players.
