Spring of 2007
What an incredible year we have had at Fossil Ridge. Our athletic teams, academic teams (Knowledge Bowl, FBLA, DECA, Student Council, journalism), art, music program and drama departments have enjoyed great success so far this year. Our state student assessment program testing will begin the week after break. An alternative schedule for the two weeks of testing can be found on the website. Both the ACT and the CSAP test serve as benchmarks for student yearly growth and serves as a body of evidence as curriculum decisions are made – please encourage your student(s) to do their best.
We appreciated the parents who were able to make the Parent-Teacher conferences. If you were unable to attend, please use Parent Internet Viewer to check on your student’s progress. Colorado High School Activities Association requires weekly grade checks and we use that system to monitor grades and have asked that teacher have grades updated by Wednesday of each week.
Many issues are being discussed in Poudre School District. The Board of Education approved Student Based Budgeting in February. This has a positive effect on the staffing and funding of Fossil Ridge High School. We hope that you were able to attend one of the grade configuration forums. A decision will be made in April in regards to grade configuration.
For the 2007-2008 school year, Fossil Ridge High School will serve as the host site for the Pioneer Outward Bound program. Pioneer has been a charter school for many years. They provide an unique learning opportunity for 250 students. The staff and administration will be working with PSD and Pioneer to ensure a positive transition for the Pioneer students. At this point there are many unanswered questions about the transition. We welcome this opportunity to expand on the academic offerings within the Poudre School District.
Thank you for your on-going support of FRHS.
