Our first ever Mock Trial team had superb performances this Friday and Saturday at the regional competition at the Larimer County Justice Center.  Our defense team participated in one trial, and our prosectution team performed twice (two hours per trial).  We placed a respectable third, behind Rocky and Ridgeview, who also took the top two places last year.  We missed state by one place.

Fossil Ridge Finance Students Top Out Over $1 Million To Earn “Highest Net Worth” In Stock Market Competition

38 teams from Northern Colorado competed in a stock market simulation sponsored by Junior Achievement and The Monfort College of Business on November 11, 2008.

Six teams from Fort Collins, 3 from Fossil Ridge and 3 from Fort Collins High School competed in a pool of 140 high school students to see who could earn the most on their initial $500K investment over a period of 60 simulated days. One minute represented one day of trading in the simulation. Students were able to buy and sell mock stocks in a live trading event.

Members of the winning FRHS team were: Jordan Helm, Mike Lamb, Amber Scheaffer, and Monty Taylor with a final net worth of $1,179.744 a 136% return or 816% annualized return. Each member received a $75 gift card to Best Buy along with a plaque.
