) Parent Advisory Board (PAB)

Parent Advisory Board (PAB) is a parent group that meets monthly with the principal to discuss school or district level issues that impact the school. Fossil Ridge High School has 20 parents who volunteer to serve on our PAB. Issues that are discussed include: boundaries, graduation requirements, attendance, school-based policies, accreditation and school programming. A parent representative also sits on the District Advisory Board (DAB) and serves as a liaison and communication link for both groups.

PAB meetings will take place on Monday nights at 7 p.m.,
in the Administrative Conference Room.

PAB Updates 5/13/08

Tomorrow evening (5/12/08) there will be an announcement made about which of the Boundary scenarios will be selected. PLEASE watch the Board of Education Meeting on Channel 10 – or catch the announcement in the Coloradoan on Wednesday morning. Again, I would like to give a big thank you to Kellie Nuber for her incredible leadership on the boundary committee and representing the interest of all high schools in a fair and honest manner. I really feel that all views were explored and that good information about the impact of all options was given into consideration.

The Superintendent had a great visit to FRHS on April 28 th. He had the chance to visit classrooms, look at our data and talk with students.

The After Prom party was the best one I have ever been to in 15 year. I was so impressed with the quality of the event and the kids had a great time. It was amazing! It was truly worth every effort that was put forth. Our students were so appreciative of the event. PROM was also a big success. Our students were incredible and not one incident. It was a great weekend!

We are exploring Surveymonkey as a tool to get input with grade configuration. We submitted our site plan to PSD in April and have not received it back yet. We will begin work this summer on transition events for students, staff development for teachers and curriculum alignment with Kinard and Preston. We also have a staff committee that is working on our communication plan to keep everyone in the loop.

We are doing a great job of hiring some amazing teachers. We have hired 2 social studies teacher, 1 English teacher, 1 PE teacher, 1 French teacher, 2 science teachers,1 Spanish teacher and are finishing up with math, READ 180, and a part-time Spanish position. We are also offering Letters of Intent in English, Art and Science.

Please let me know if there is a good time for PAB to meet. I know with sports, etc. that it is becoming more difficult. Would an early morning time work better? Your views are crucial to heading FRHS in the right direction. PLEASE email me if there are concerns out there that I can address. It is truly the goal of your administrative team to listen and change what we can change; or explain what we can explain. We want to be inclusive of parents and your views as we build a school of excellence.
