In the event that we were to have a school delay due to weather conditions the Cabinet has adopted a policy to handle this situation. Please review the schedule listed below: Examples: If we had a school delay on Monday you would follow the schedule listed below for Monday's classes. If we had a school delay on Tuesday you would follow the schedule listed below for Tuesday's classes and so forth.

Collaborative Time Days are Underway

PSD has set aside more time for staff district-wide to work together to improve instruction.  “Collaborative time” creates structured time for teams of teachers and other staff to analyze achievement data, develop and coordinate curriculum, implement meaningful interventions, train, and share best practices in schools, across schools, and across grade levels.  It also more closely aligns school schedules and bus schedules district-wide for the convenience of families.  Senior highs will have consistent, weekly late start on Mondays (starting 07-08 school year), and elementary and junior highs have 4 release days (one each quarter) on Wednesdays during the school year (for the entire school calendar call 482-7420 or click on the link directly below ).

Schools and the District will be accountable for the way time is used by:

• Setting goals for the time and publishing an agenda with activities for accomplishing desired goals; Reporting how time was used to the school community (through school newsletters, Site Team reports, PTA/PTO reports, web sites); Conducting formal surveys to obtain feedback from parents and staff, and documenting informal input; and
• Conducting formal observations, interviews, and “levels of use” studies to determine effectiveness of professional development and implementation.

The school day at FRHS begins at 7:50 a.m. and ends at 3:10 p.m, with the exception of Monday which has been designated as a "late start" day.
Zero "0" hour classes have special meeting times outside of the school day. Please check with your "0" hour teacher for this schedule.

Fossil Ridge High School is on a Modified Block System. What this means is that students attend even class periods (2, 4, 6) on Mondays and Wednesdays, odd class periods (1, 3, 5, 7) on Tuesdays and Thursdays and all class periods 1-7 on Fridays. Wednesday will also include an Advisory class for all students.

Class periods on Monday - Thursday are 87 minutes in length and on Friday the class periods are 52 minutes in length. On Wednesday students will attend an Advisory period following 2nd period. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, students are required to participate in our DEAR program for 20 minutes right before lunch. Students have a common lunch which will be served from 11:17 a.m. - 12:07 p.m. daily except on Mondays when it will be served from 11:34 a.m. - 12:24 p.m.

Doors to the school will open at 7:00 a.m. during the school week. All exterior doors, with the exception of the main entrance, will automatically lock when the first period of the day begins. Students arriving to school after this time will have to enter through the main office.
