Congratulations to our ATOMS Robotic Team for their
3rd Place Award at the
First Lego League World Festival

Kinard’s robotics team, the A.T.O.M.s, competed in the First Lego League World Festival, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on April 12-14.  The team, consisting of Arun Chandra, Ryan Dickerson, Julius Hockmuth, Logan King, Dylan Marcy, Alan Nash, Nathan Nash, William Petterson, Tyler Shaw and Nathan Slavik, competed against 94 of the best teams from across the US and around the globe.  The team was judged on their robot design, robot performance, teamwork, research presentation and problem solution.  Twenty one trophies were awarded in these different categories.  Kinard’s team received one of these trophies, earning a 3rd place award for “Innovative Research Solution” applying nanotechnology to a worldwide problem.  During the two intense days of competition, the team members also had fun solving the Alliance Problem with the teams from Florida, New York and Denmark.  Many of the students also had fun meeting Poudre High School’s Alpine Robotics Team and learning about robotic competition at the high school level.
