Shawn Murphy is in his third year directing orchestras at Kinard Middle School in Fort Collins. Since joining Kinard, the string program has doubled in size. Before Kinard, Mr. Murphy taught Middle School and High School orchestras and guitar in Star Valley, Wyoming. In his two years there his orchestras and small ensembles received Superior ratings at Festival, he conducted Händel’s Messiah for the Star Valley Art’s Council, he was invited to conduct one of the 2007 Wyoming State String Clinic orchestras, and maintained a private violin studio. In 2009, Mr. Murphy adjudicated at the St. Vrain solo and ensemble festival and conducted the 8th Grade Festival orchestra for the same district. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado. |
