October 2009

Hello!! I hope all of you are having a great start to the new year. It’s hard to believe that we are already moving into October. My schedule is a little different again this year. My focus will be towards small group and individual counseling and I will be working a lot with my sand trays. I will be in each classroom throughout the year to talk about bullying. Other topics to be discussed will depend on the needs of each class.

I will see Kindergartenevery other three weeks throughout the year. Please let me know if you would like me to visit with your son/daughter about specific concerns.

Red Ribbon Week will be held during the week of October 26-30. We will have activities, classroom discussions and dress up days during this month to go along with the Red Ribbon and Homecoming themes!! During Red Ribbon Week I will be in the classrooms discussing the importance of living a healthy, drug-free life. Each student will receive a red ribbon to wear for that week and will decorate posters to hang throughout the school.
Stay tuned for my web site that will provide you with local resources and general information regarding the counseling program here at Laurel. I am currently updating it and will have it up and running by next month.

I will also be helping out with Laurel’s “Kids Care Club” again. It is made up of 4th and 5th graders and will focus on community service projects.
This year we only have one 4th grader and twelve 5th graders. We are looking to add at least one more 4th grader.

CROW CANYON: I am also one of the sponsors for the 4th-5th grade trip to Crow Canyon, May 30-June 5 2010. It is an amazing trip that focuses on the Pueblo Indian history. Information will be sent out to all 4th and 5th graders. We currently have 16 on our list of those interested. We have enough spots for 20-25 kids. Please call or email me if you are interested
in getting your son/daughter signed up.
