The Laurel Difference

State of the art technology!

At Laurel School of Arts & Technology we have  equipped every classroom in  Kindergarten through  Sixth grade with an LCD  projector, document camera and a SMART  board.

A SMART board is a whiteboard with a touch sensitive screen  that allows a student or teacher to manipulate images and text with a touch of a finger.

A document camera is able to project any image directly onto a screen. Document cameras connected to the SMART Board enable teachers to display  realia, lessons, read alouds, textbooks, exemplars of student work, manipulatives, bugs, rocks... you name it!
It is  rewarding to see students' excitement and enthusiasm  (as well as teachers) when they interact with the SMART board.  For more information about the SMART board please go to www.smart.com

Kindergarten and first grade students are using iPods to help develop literacy skills by listening to their teachers read stories on iPods. Students are able to check out the ipods and take them home.

Our teachers  love this new technology added to their "toolbox." It increases student engagement, learning, and achievement. The teachers wonder how they ever taught without it!
