Steamboat is a world class resort, probably the best in Colorado. It is consistantly in the top three ski resorts with the most snowfall in Colorado. Although a long drive from Denver, it is well worth the wait. Steamboat Springs is a great town with many restaraunts and many places to stay. Steamboat has fast lifts, which is important when it attracts a lot of skiers. There are few problems with the lifts so you always get up the mountain pretty fast.
