  Notes from the Coach

TRACK & FIELD PARENTS:

The track season is well under way, and the team wanted to let you know what has been / is / and will be happening.

Numbers: Over 135 athletes signed up at the beginning the season, which is 15 more than our average over the past 4 years. A few decided to go a different direction, but those who are sticking with/to the program will be seeing the results of their efforts over the next few weeks.  Usually there is a JV meet on Tuesday and then an Invitational on Saturday.

FYI – most of our girls and boys have a good chance to improve their own PR's this season and a number may move into the TOP TEN rankings this season. You’ll hear more about them in the weeks to come.

Program Improvement: One of the goals of each season is to not only develop our track athletes to their highest level, but also to improve the T & F program. In the past 4 years the program has purchased over $80,000 of needed equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc. which has taken a lot of effort and coordination. One of the ways that parents have been able to help is through the Annual Track Booster Fee ($25.00 per family), Business Donor Program (donations of dollars or "gifts in kind" with amounts up to $500.00 or more), and the concession stand at our meets. There is a little more that needs to get done this year, so if you haven’t turned in your Track Booster Fee, want to join the Business Donor Program or make a donation of food / $$ to the final meet concessions – there is still time to contribute and the track team thanks you in advance.

Concessions: The track team is going to run the concessions on our own this year, plus we’d like to get all food and necessary items donated. Over 10 parents have donated food or money for supplies. Some items are already paid for, but please consider how you might help when the “needed list” comes out in a couple of days. We'll need at least one or two people to take care of flipping the burgers or hot dogs as well during the meet.

THANKS:  As always thanks for your support. We know there are some exciting competitions coming up and having your son or daughter on the squad makes the team that much stronger. See you at a meet, soon !

Best Regards,

Ron Jensen, Gina Holley, Dave Jestes, Dennis Morgan, Brian Faulkner, Billy Stadele and Ryan Cannon
