Foundations of Physical Education and Health Course # 3215/3070 5 hours 1semester
Required for
all 10th graders.
A foundation of physical eduacation is prerequisite for any other
physical education class and a requirement for graduation from Poudre High School.
This class will teach student to live healthy productive long live healthy productive
lives along with making positive choices about their future lifestyles. Its
sets the framework for the health and awareness practices that students will
need once they graduate from high school. This is a semester class, and the
class cannot be waived.

Beginning Dance - Course #3044 2.5 hours
1 quarter
This course is one semester in length and is designed to promote
dance training for a higher level of achievement. This course will develop and
extend the artistic, affective, congnitive, and psychomotor potential of all
levels of dancers. The student will be provided with opportunities to explore,
create, organize, evaluate, and perform a variety of dance forms. Students will
also know the difference between performing arts dances vs. recreational dance;
i.e., ballet, tap and jazz (stages dances) weddings, dances, social events (community
dances), and hip-hop (video)

Dance - Course #____ 2.5 hours 1 quarter
Aerobics and
Dance Plus - Course #3075 10 hours 2 semesters
Students will gain fitness through step and floor aerobics; jazz,
hip-hop, ballroom dancing and line dancing. Students will learn different
routines and components of aerobic dance. Each student will teach a section
of an aerobic dance or dance workout. The emphasis will be on dance.
This class also serves as the Poudre Repretory Dance Company. The students will learn the basic components of dance choreography and create and produce dance compositions as well as recitals.
Auditions for this class are held in the Spring. Teacher approval required.

Adaptive Physical Education - Course #3099 10 hours 2 semesters
Instructoer Improval is required. In this class, special needs individuals are taught basic skills such as balance, self awareness,hand-eye coordination, rythems, sportsmanship, foot-eye coordination, and strength and endurance activities.

Independant Study / Physical Ed. Teaching Assistant - Course # 3990 5 Hours 1semester
This class is designed for Poudre High school students to become activley involved in teaching special needs students. They will be involved in a teaching role model relationship which is bound to influence both special needs and assistant teaching students. This class does not count toward physical education credit.
