SEATING ASSIGNMENTS - The seating assignments for convocation, graduation practice, and the graduation ceremony are all the same. These assignments will be posted in the hallway across from the Guidance Office by no later than mid-May. You need to carefully check this posting for your name, side, row, seat location, and other important instructions. The way we determine seating assignments has been published in the newsletter and is currently posted in this hallway. Sorry, parents and students cannot request where a graduate is seated.
CAPS AND GOWNS - You are required to wear a cap and gown at Commencement. They will be handed out on May 19 at the concession stand from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. After May 19 caps and gowns may be picked up in the concession stand during posted hours. You will need your STAMPED checkout sheet in order to get your cap and gown. Remember, you keep the cap, tassel and the gown. The Tassel - The tassel is to be worn over the left temple. Tassels should never be pinned or sewed; they should be permitted to hang naturally. The Gown - If you need to press the gown, do so with a warm iron, not a hot one!
WHAT TO WEAR UNDER THE GOWN: All graduation gowns will be blue. Ladies should wear a dress with no collar or dress pants with a collarless top and dress shoes. Gentlemen need not wear a jacket, but they should wear a shirt, a tie, dress slacks and dress shoes. Dress boots are appropriate, if they are polished. No flowers, ornaments, or any other decorations are to be worn with caps & gowns. Faculty will check your manner of dress, your caps, and your gowns before you march. This dress code is required! There will be no place to change or leave any garments at C.S.U. on Saturday.
PHOTOGRAPHS - There will be press and yearbook photographers on the floor during graduation. We are not allowing any parents, friends, or relatives to photograph on the gym floor during commencement! Because we have had difficulties with friends and relatives of graduates interrupting the flow of graduates going to and from the stage, as well as disconnecting wires of the sound systems, a professional photographer will take a picture of you receiving your diploma. A proof, that you may keep for no charge, will be sent to you through the mail so that you may order as many prints as you wish.
HANDICAPPED SEATING - Handicapped seating is provided in the first two rows on the North and South sides of the gym. A sign-language interpreter will be stationed in Section N on the South side of the gym.
REPORT CARDS - Report cards will be mailed to you in mid June.
COLLEGE APPLICATIONS - All students who have processed a college application must complete a request for a final transcript to be sent to the college of their choice. These forms may be picked up at the time you pick up your checkout sheet on May 16. Place your name and the name of your chosen college on the form and leave it at the checkout table.
VALEDICTORIANS and SALUTATORIAN – The final valedictorian and salutatorian recipients are determined at the end of fourth quarter, which ends on May 23. Final exams for seniors will be May 20 and 21 with final grades due to counseling on May 23. The official valedictorian and salutatorian list will be decided on May 23.
