Polaris Expeditionary Learning School offers grades 6-12. Each class is a caring community where everyone gets individual attention for their needs. The total population of the school for 2009 – 2010 is about 210 students.
Polaris is an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school. EL is a comprehensive K-12 educational design. This approach combines rigorous academic content and real world projects called learning expeditions, with active teaching and community service. Teaching and learning are active and engaging in Expeditionary Learning classrooms. This helps a lot of the students who come to Polaris, who have different learning styles.
The fundamental idea behind Expeditionary Learning is that students learn more by experiencing the world around them. Expeditionary Learning harnesses the students’ natural passion to learn and helps children develop the curiosity, knowledge, skills, and personal qualities they need for a successful life after school.
