Scott Schlup is the latest addition to the RMHS Band staff, following sixteen years as Director of Bands at Lesher Junior High School. Scott provides individualized instruction to approximately 20 students on trumpet and French horn. Scott also mentors students in music composition, music arranging, music technology and has taught students professional recording and sound reinforcement classes. Mr. Schlup is very involved in musical groups outside of school. Mr. Schlup became the Musical Director of the Loveland Concert Band in 2000, after a seven year engagement with the Northern Colorado Concert Band. His involvement with community music groups includes work with the Fort Collins Flute Choir and the Fort Collins Wind Symphony, where he has conducted and currently serves as President of the Board of Directors. As a performer, Mr. Schlup has performed with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra and the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with such notable musicians as Crystal Gale and Buddy Rich. Currently, Mr. Schlup plays trumpet with the Fort Collins Wind Symphony and the Exquisite Brass Quintet. Mr. Schlup is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado (Bachelors 1990, Masters, 1997) where he holds degrees in both music education and music performance. In 1997 Mr. Schlup received the Deans Citation for Academic Excellence from the University of Northern Colorado and in 1995 Mr. Schlup was recognized as a Distinguished Teacher of the Year in Fort Collins. |
