If you are planning to enroll in college as a freshman and you want to
participate in Division I or II athletics you must be certified by the
NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse. Registration must be done online
at http://www.ncaaclearinghouse.net/.
The NCAA charges $50.00 for this service. For more information and to
request transcripts, please see Ms. Mulnix in the College and Career Center.
To be certified by the Clearinghouse, you must:
Graduate from High School: You should apply for certification in your
junior year if you are sure you wish to participate in athletics as a
freshman. The Clearinghouse will issue a preliminary certification report
when you have all your materials submitted.
Grade Point Average: Earn a minimum required GPA average on a 4.00 scale
in a core curriculum of at least 16 academic courses (Division I), which
were successfully completed during grades 9 through 12. Only courses that
satisfy the NCAA definition of a core course can be used to calculate
your NCAA GPA. No special values are allowed for "+" or "-"
grades. The chart below shows what your core courses must include.
