The SAT Reasoning
Test is the most widely taken college entrance examination. The SAT assesses
how well students analyze and solve problemsskills learned in school
that are needed in college. The SAT consists of three sections: critical
reading, math, and writing. The critical reading section consists of 67
questions in two 25-minute sections and one 20-minute section (70 minutes
total). Questions assess reading skills, ability to identify genre, relationships
among parts of text, cause and effect, rhetorical devices, and comparative
arguments. The math section consists of 54 questions in two 25-minute
sections and one 20-minute sections (70 minutes total). It includes topics
such as numbers and operations, algebra and functions, geometry and measurement,
and data analysis, statistics, and probability. The one-hour writing section
consists of one essay question (25 minutes) and 49 multiple-choice questions.

The SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 for all three sections. The College
Board sets the average for all test takers at 500 for each (508 critical
reading) and (514 math).

How do I register?
It is best to register online for the SAT (http://www.collegeboard.org).
To register with paper you can pick up a form in Student Services at RMHS.
You are responsible for mailing your application and fee directly to SAT.
