Kris Clagett called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.m. Sign in sheet was

passed around. Kris announced that the meeting would adjourn at 8:15 p.m.,

regardless of where  we are at on the agenda. We will interrupt at 8:15 p.m. to

allow parents  who need to leave to do so, and those who wish to stay for the

remainder  of meeting may do so.

She will be handling the read-a-thon. We have set a goal  for $4000.00 this

America Day. The Author, Mark Ludy, will  be here having a 45-minute session

with each grade level  k/1,2/3,4/5,6.  We are trying to get Linda to come from

Fort  Collins library, unfortunate she will not be able to come like last

year due to the cutbacks. Looking at other options that maybe available.  There

is a possibility of getting Saturn to donate $250.00 and  Volunteer time.

We need to get the teachers more involved in  promoting and encourage the

read-a-thon for the pledges sheet. The  committee is working on an incentive

program for the students and  teachers. There is popcorn leftover from the

cornstalk that can be used  that day. Homeroom parents will be needed to help out

with snacks and  reading to the students.

.

We will have the 4th thru 6th graders  design the pledge sheet again this

year. Then we will vote on them. This  will be the design that we will use. Jane

volunteer the dream team to help  with the making of the poster to go thru out

the  school.

21st and will be back on November 28th. The second order  went in on Oct 25th

and maybe will have back by Christmas not for sure  yet.

Cornstalk: We have someone that will run the sweet tooth  booth for next

year. We need to make sure we get the IB students. We  had minor problems with the

Lincoln, Jr. High students,  which canceled at the last minute. We're

thinking about having  bottled water for next year, and we need to start limiting the

space in  the cafeteria watch how many things we put in there.

We need to set a  date for next year that doesn't interfere with the football

game.  We need to set that day now so we can advise CSU and High school  of

that date ahead of time for a better chance of getting  volunteers.

Wellness committee had a booth at the carnival. Would like  to see a portion

or all the money go back to wellness committee.

Profit made from the cornstalk is $1147.96.

other victims of the  hurricane storms. They have 2 people working with team

Tavelli however it's better with 4 people to work with them.  They are no

meetings to plan. They have collected $321.00 for Box tops  that is collected two

times a year next time is March 31st,  2006.

Parent Concerns or Ideas:

Kim Miller expressed  concerns for the 5th grade reading program. She suggest

some kind of  reading incentive program be set up for the fifth graders.

There is AR  reading in fifth grade, with more tests, very limited some teachers

have  no restrictions on books they read. Each individual teacher set up how

they are going to give points for each grade. Next steps include talking  with

teachers on how to motivate and stimulate the student. Kim to  follow-up on

this idea.

Box Tops for education are running a  contest on essay of 250 to 500 words

given to Dr. Lawler and the 5/6th  grade teachers will talk it over and see what

they come up  with.

Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
