Healthy Kids Club is a community outreach program sponsored by Poudre Valley Health System, to promote health, fitness, and safety in local elementary schools.  Initiated in January of 1998, Healthy Kids Club activities include:
 

· After school programs focusing on exercise, nutrition, safety and fun!

· “Health Break” programs in partnership with the City of Fort Collins’ “RAD Van” (RAD Van visits area neighborhoods to provide after school and summer activities).  Healthy Kids Club partners with RAD Van staff to lead fitness activities and teach health lessons.

· Early Head Start/Pre-school programs.

· Monthly newsletter “Healthy Kids News” for all elementary students in Poudre School District and Thompson School District.

· Healthy Kids Run Series – kids earn prizes for participating in local runs.

· The “Schools on the Move Challenge!” – kids and staff keep activity logs and earn p.e. equipment for their schools.

· “Strap and Snap” bike helmet safety education.

·  “The Great Outdoors” summer adventure series in Fort Collins, Loveland and Windsor.

· Sponsorship of the City of Fort Collins’ “Bob the Bus” swimming program.

· Support for existing exercise, health, and activity programs in elementary schools.

· Health/safety lessons to supplement elementary school curriculum.

· Fitness programs/classes.

· The annual “Halloween Hustle” family fun run/walk in Windsor.

· "Cooking Up a Storm!” classes for elementary and jr. high students.

· Special events/community programs.

· To raise awareness of the benefits of healthy behaviors.
· To encourage healthy choices.
· To promote positive character development and citizenship.
