Scheduling recess before lunch helps students in many ways!

· Many health organizations have suggested that recess before lunch will help students have better concentration after returning to class.
· Children run out to recess ready for a break from classroom time and are more active, than they were when recess followed lunch.
· Children have better appetites when they enter the lunchroom, and consume their lunch with less plate waste.  They are less hungry when they return to class.
· Studies have shown that students are ready for learning, after settling down at the lunch table.
· Classroom behaviors improved, and instructional class time increased.
· Children are less likely to develop stomach cramps or become ill from eating lunch and then running around during recess.
· Coming back to class directly after lunch instead of directly after recess makes students focus better and they are easier to control.

Testimonials from Tavelli teachers:
· “ I do not have as many playground disputes to work out as I use to.  The kids are working  them out during lunch time.  I am ready to start teaching much sooner.”
