1050 Crafts:
This one semester course offers the student opportunities to
design and create functional hand-crafted products which may include
clay, wood, heading, basketry,
and fibers. The history and culture of crafts is studied. Students
will required to provide supplies.
1270 Jewelry:
During this semester course, students will explore a variety of
techniques in jewelry design while experimenting with metal and
non-metal materials. Students will create original projects using
skills which may include: sawing, casting, enameling, forming, cold
connections, soldering, repousse and chasing, as well as other beginning
jewelry techniques. Jewelry terminology, history and aesthetics
will be studied. The elements and principles of art will be reinforced.
Specific projects way involve: cut and pierced pendant, pins, casting
a ring, chain links, enameled beads or pendants, and acid etching.
Metal (nickel silver, brass, copper, pewter, and sterling silver)
beads, wire, stones may be used.
