5152 Outstanding Authors: This semester course for eighth and ninth grade students will provide reading and discussion time for students interested in reading well-known books and short stories by outstanding writers. Students read selections from science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, history, nonfiction, drama, mystery, suspense, and other types of books. Discussions, patterned after the "Great Books" model, emphasize reasoning, inferential thinking, critical reaction and opinions as comprehension skills.
