I: This yearlong course introduces the skills of listening,
speaking, reading, and writing in the language. Students also study
the countries and the culture of the people where the language is
spoken. Emphasis is placed on listening and speaking skills. Class
activities include conversations, dialogues, reading short selections,
written exercises, interactive strategies, authentic cultural experiences
and group activities. Students selecting this class should demonstrate
good study habits, organizational skills, a commitment to intense
studying and academic excellence, self-discipline and motivation
and a willingness to actively participate. This class meets high
school state standards and objectives. Grades 7, 8, and 9.
