6520 Science
8: This course is designed for all students and is the second
of two courses that meets the Colorado State and Poudre School District
Content Standards for Science grades 5-8. Science 7 and Science
8 are coordinated courses, which means that topics from the Physical
Sciences, Life Sciences and Earth Sciences will be covered. The
major topics covered in the 8th grade course are Chemical Properties
of Matter, Motion and Energy, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Astrophysics,
Environmental Biology, Energy Flow, and Biochemistry. This course
is designed to fit the "Hands on Science" model: there
are many labs and other activities that are integral parts of this
course. This is a required course for all 8th graders.
6519 Pre
AP Science 8: This course utilizes the same curriculum as Science
8 but with a greater emphasis on higher level thinking skills. Material
will be taught in greater depth and at an accelerated pace. Students
need to be in Integrated I math or beyond.
